If you're a Queensland resident, you could be eligible for substantial rebates on energy-efficient appliances. These rebates, part of the $22 million Smart Energy Savers program, can help you make your home more energy-efficient while saving you big bucks on your electricity bills.
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility. Before you dive into the world of energy savings, make sure you're eligible for either a standard or low-income rebate. Remember, it's one rebate per household, and the rebate can't exceed the total cost of the appliance.
Step 2: Choose Your Energy-Efficient Appliance. Select an energy-efficient appliance with a 4-star rating or higher from a range that includes washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, fridges, air conditioners, heat pump hot water systems, and solar hot water systems. These appliances not only save you money but also help reduce CO2 emissions.
Step 3: Get Your Appliance Installed. For appliances requiring installation, like air conditioners and dishwashers, our licensed tradespeople are here to help. Once your new appliance is in place, keep your installation receipt.
Step 4: Claim Your Rebate. Ready to cash in on your energy savings? Complete your rebate application online through the QRIDA portal, using your myGovID for a streamlined experience.
Remember, the Smart Energy Savers program is open to all Queenslanders, with low-income households eligible for the most significant savings. But here's the catch – program funding is limited, and it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the funds run out, the program closes.
Beginning in September 2023, qualifying households in Queensland have the opportunity to receive rebates ranging from $300 to $1,000 when they buy and install energy-efficient appliances and hot water systems with a 4-star rating or higher. Here’s a list of appliances in the program:
When you transition to energy-efficient appliances, you're not just cutting down on your electricity bills; you're also playing a vital role in diminishing carbon emissions.
